2. SEALING BEADS

Beads height is fully adaptable with the sealing problems we have. Generally, standard design is with 3 beads but, localy, we can have only 2 beads.

Those heights are variable on the gaskets and dependings on :
- Distance between bolts.
- Roughness of the surface in contact with the gasket.
- Flatness of the surface in contact with the gasket.
- Stiffness of the flanges or surface in contact with the gasket.

Beads height is :
- At the minimum around bolts (0.05mm)
- At the maximum between bolts
(0.1mm to 0.5mm or more if necessary).

Sealing beads can seal different surface types as :
· Steel.
· Aluminium.
· Plastic
· ……
Those surface can be machined or not
(direct casting surface )

Surface roughness which can be seal with beads :
- standard surface : Rmax 20-25µm
- maxi can be Rz 50µm and Rmax 80µm

Due to the various profile of beads and to the high range of elastomer characteristics, it’s possible to seal multiple fluid on the same gasket or not.

Sealing beads evolution :
target of the evolution is to be able to have beads contact pressure constant. Following picture shown FUJI paper done with LEM gasket.
